Stylish Spring Dresses

Dear She She Me,

I am a mother of two and am unaware of the new styles for this spring and summer 2009. I am in need of finding something classic and fun to wear for Easter Sunday. Any suggestions? Thank you, Mother of 2

Dearest Mother of 2,

Spring is all about a fresh new world, so it stands to reason that fashions should be fresh and new too! This season there are so many gorgeous styles out there to choose from, no matter your budget, so you'll have no problem at all finding the perfect ensemble for Easter!

Spring/Summer 2009 is all about femininity, with gorgeous florals and lovely pastels front and center. Ruffles, pleats and texture are very of-the-moment as well. A gorgeous shift or sheath dress would be a perfect choice for your Easter finery - classic, timeless and very sophisticated. You can toss a cashmere or cotton cardigan over your shoulders if the weather turns a little chilly. Add a pair of elegant slingback sandals and a chic patent leather handbag, and finish with a chunky bangle bracelet.

Another great option is a flirty skirt paired with an ultra feminine blouse. Choose a skirt in an a-line or full style for a more feminine feel, as well as being much more comfortable and easy to move around in (which I imagine you must do alot of as a mother of 2!). Top with a sleeveless shell or blouse. Here, again, you can add a sweater or jacket depending on the weather. Finish with sassy sandals and a sweet handbag, add a chunky necklace and you are ready for a stylish Easter brunch.

Happy Easter shopping darling!

How to Style Rory Gilmore

I love the clothes Alexis wears in Gilmore Girls and I searched for many of her outfits in the series! There are many items open, no one knows which brands they are! Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks for everything!

Dear Christa,

Soooo happy to meet another Gilmore afficionado! I adore that series, own every DVD and wept profusely when they discontinued it. I would have been thrilled to follow Rory out into the working world and then back to graduate school for her MBA while Lorelie and Luke fixed up the house and then had twins...but I digress.Anyhoo, as for Rory's style, since the series has been off the air for over two years, most of the clothes she wore at that time won't be available now, if your are looking for specific items. However, in researching this I found that the stylist from the CW opted for the "collegiate" look for Rory, since she was attending Yale. And as every fashionista knows, it all starts with a great pair of designer jeans. Alexis favors Citizens of Humanity, James Jeans, and her alltime fave Adriano Goldschmied's AG Jeans.

Alexis tends to favor tanks and camisoles worn under blouses and sweaters. One of her favorites is the long tank from James Perse, which can be scrunched around the hips for a more styishly layered look.

She also wears blazers with a nipped in waist or peplum to accentuate her curves, and has a tendency toward flirty knee length styles with either a full skirt or an A-line style, staying away from pencil skirts. Some good sources for these type of outfits are Banana Republic, James Perse, Anthropologie, J.Crew and White House/Black Market.
