Lauren B Cares A luxury Nail Collection That Gives Back

During the month of August, Los Angeles-based, eco-friendly, luxury nail care company Lauren B. Beauty is launching a donation program supporting Chrysalis, a nonprofit organization that helps put homeless and low income individuals on the path to self-sufficiency by giving them the resources and support they need to find and keep jobs. Beginning August 1st, the brand will donate 20% of the proceeds from the sale of the Lauren B. Cares Chrysalis Collection to the nonprofit organization.




Over the past 30 years, Chrysalis has developed a nationally recognized program that offers services to low income and homeless individuals in Los Angeles County, helping them to prepare for, attain and sustain employment. They offer their clients a hand up, not a hand out, building upon their strengths and helping to reduce or eliminate any barriers to employment. 

All of Lauren’s nail polish shades are inspired by her hometown of L.A. With this set, she’s giving back to her community.  Lauren B., a nail-polish fiend for as long as she can remember, earned her stripes in the high-end beauty world while working for Philip B. Botanicals, her uncle’s cult-favorite haircare brand. She leveraged that knowledge to achieve her dream: the perfect, safe, do-it-yourself manicure for busy women. The polishes swipe on expertly and easily, dry fast, and stay glossy and chip-free (truly!) for at least 14 days.

TONI&GUY TIPS FOR SPORTING SECOND DAY HAIR




Second-day hair can be as stunning as a freshly washed mane! With tips from TONI&GUY US Celebrity Stylist Christian Wood, you can sport a gorgeous style without having to rewash.  

Refresh with Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is perfect for reviving hair until the next wash! “One of the biggest hair mistakes people make is incorrectly applying dry shampoo,” Christian says. The right way? Dry shampoo should be applied section by section for even distribution and left on the hair for a few minutes to absorb oils before blasting it out with a dryer. Massage the product into the scalp with your fingertips to help remove any white residue.

Pump Up The Volume
A common problem with second-day hair is that it can easily fall flat. Christian recommends adding product at the roots and letting it dry in to restore its bounce. This will give the hair an extra oomph of volume.

Touchable Texture
One of the advantages of second-day hair is its natural, bed head texture. Spray salt spray evenly from root to tip and work through the hair to create movement.

Backstage Beauty: TRESemmé at MIKOH Summer 2015

The MIKOH Summer 2015 Collection incorporates earth tones and intricate details for a trendy, youthful style. The dynamic sister duo brings a feminine, yet strong feel to the surf and sun lifestyle. TRESemmé Stylist Tyler Laswell created a hair look of soft waves with sexy volume to compliment the collection.



Get the look:

1.  Begin by taking small sections of hair and lightly misting with water until damp. Layer TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Wave Creation Sea Foam and TRESemmé Youth Boost Youthful Fullness Emulsion Spray to each section until hair is fully covered.



2.  Dry hair using a blow dryer and a wide-tooth comb. TIP: Be sure to lift hair at the root using the comb for added volume. 

3.  With a 1-inch curling iron, take sectioned hair and begin curling using a reverse-curling technique. This requires the lengths of the hair closest to the scalp to be wrapped 2-3 times around the iron away from the face, and then released. Next, take the remaining lengths of the hair and wrap 2-3 times in the opposite direction. Repeat until all hair has been curled.

4.  Complete the look with a mist of TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Ultra Brushable Hairspray for a light hold that lasts.
