4 Myths About Washing Your Jeans

Every girl knows that a great pair of denim jeans is worth every penny that you spend, which is why it is so important to take great care of them!  A few tips and tricks to help extend the life of denim jeans.

When it comes to washing denim, everybody has laundry superstitions. But the experts over at Downy that created the Downy Ball is here to help reveal the truth about washing your jeans. Here are five denim-related myths you should stop believing.

Myth 1: “I separate my jeans from other fabrics, so I’m totally good to go.”

The Bust: To keep your dark denim from potentially staining your lighter denim, we recommend separating your darker shades from your lighter shades.

Myth 2: “Denim is a tough enough fabric to withstand the tugs and pulls of any wash.”

The Bust: No matter how resilient denim seems, you still need to take precautions. Button buttons, zip up zippers, and flip your jeans inside out to prolong their life. Taking a second to prep your denim will help prevent it from getting damaged in the wash.

Myth 3: “I should was my jeans in warm or hot washer cycles.”

The Bust: As a general rule, use cold water and a laundry detergent that will respect the denim’s color and wash. It’s fine to wash denim in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with other deep-colored clothing, preferably turned inside out.

Myth 4: “My jeans love being toasty, so I tumble them on a high dryer setting.”

The Bust: Dry on the lowest dryer setting or line dry your jeans to help prevent shrinking and stretching. Such precautions will keep your denim fresh and timeless, just like your style.

About Downy Ball

No more waiting for the rinse cycle. No more cleaning out the dispenser. With the Downy Ball, fabric softener is automatically released during the rinse cycle. To enjoy the convenience of Downy Ball just pour the Downy fabric softener of choice up to the right fill line in the Downy bottle cap, pour into the ball, seal it, and drop it in at the start of the wash on top of fabrics. Downy Ball will release the softener on its own, making laundry less complicated.

Moroccanoil Backstage at Zac Posen SS17: It's All About Texture

Moroccanoil was backstage at Zac Posen with hair design by Odile Gilbert. The hair look was all about beautiful texture using NEW Curl Re-energizing Spray and Dry Texture Spray.

GET THE LOOK:

  • Prep damp hair by applying Moroccanoil Treatment from root to tip to create the perfect foundation for styling.
  • Next, use fingers to rake a generous amount of Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse through strands.
  • Rough dry with Moroccanoil Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Dryer using the diffuser attachment.
  • Using a ½” barrel curling iron, wrap random sections of hair around the iron leaving the ends free.
  • Flip head upside down and shake out hair with hands. Then, generously mist the entire head with NEW Moroccanoil Curl Re-energizing Spray and Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray, giving the hair texturized volume and hold with a dry, gritty finish.
  • Beginning at the top, gently pull hair towards the back of the head—leaving lift and volume at the roots—and secure with a large hair pin. Do the same for the hair at the sides of the head, crisscrossing the two sections, and secure with hair pins. The sections chosen should be random to achieve a carefree look.
  • Pull out a few face framing whisps and mist in place with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium.
  • Finally, mist the entire style with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium, creating added shine, hold and piecey-ness.
