Easy, Effortless Holiday!

New Year's Eve is just around the corner and it’s time to plan your stunning glam looks! John Frieda, Sun Bum, TouchBack and Wink Brow Bar have made getting these looks at home that much easier!

Easy, effortless curls: John Frieda Spiral Curls Curling Iron

Skip the tanning bed: Sun Bum Self-Tanning Towelettes

The new Sun Bum® Sunless Self-Tanning Towelettes not only contain the most effective ingredients like Black Walnut Leaf Extract but also are infused with a patented clear self-tanning formula that works with the proteins and amino acids in skin to produce a healthy, beachy glow.

It’s always about the brows: TouchBack BrowMarker

Guaranteed to deliver mistake-proof results, TouchBack BrowMarker features a fine tip marker, which deposits the perfect amount of color for even, natural-looking coverage.

Or leave it to the pros: Wink Brow Bar

“Brows should compliment your face, not take over. The main problem area where my clients overdo it at home, is at the very front of their brow. If this area becomes too harsh or heavy, it looks off. If in doubt, do not put any powder or pencil in the very front. Start where your arch starts and take baby steps.” – Umbreen Sheikh, founder

Knitting is the New Yoga - The "Me Time" Scarf from Wool and the Gang

Introducing a new way to meditate: the “Me Time" Scarf from Wool and the Gang, featuring a knit kit with all of the materials needed to craft a striped scarf.

This kit includes the new “Feeling Good” striped yarn. The concept? You simply knit rows of a single color, and when the color of the yarn changes, it’s time to stop for the day.  Each stripe of color should take approximately 20 minutes to complete, meaning that anyone can find some “me time” to relax and knit.  Perfect for everyone from knitting novices to master knitters.

Knitting has been proven as a way to experience the state of “flow” - a feeling of zen and mindfulness, similar to yoga or meditation – and this project is the perfect way to practice 20 minutes a day.

Available in Northern Lights Green (black + turquoise green), Clear Blue Sky (light blue + ivory white) and Milky Way (black + gray) for $47, including gorgeous rosewood knitting needles at woolandthegang.com

Christmas Lights

  • Lead may be in the vinyl that insulates the electrical wires of many Christmas lights.
  • Healthier alternatives may be lights that comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances standard, which limits lead levels to no more than 1,000 parts per million.
  • Other toxicants used in Christmas lights are most likely not listed on the label. So wear gloves when handling lights, especially old ones.
  • Toxic Trees
  • Artificial Christmas trees are commonly made with PVC. Choose a freshly cut or live tree instead. Buy a Christmas tree that has been grown without pesticides, if possible.
