Make the Most of Daylight Saving Time!

Sunday, November 2nd marks the end of Daylight Saving Time. Come 2:00 AM, we will turn our clocks back an hour. Although we gain this extra time, this also means shorter, colder, winter days, which will make us all want to spend more time sleeping.  Check out a few of our faves to make sure you're getting the best night's sleep possible:

It’s important to take time to unwind before bed to ease the mind because a consistent routine every day can help you fall asleep more quickly and reliably. Lighting an aromatic candle will help calm the nerves before bed.

Try Le Feu de L’eau Le Vert Candle, $62

While we sleep, the cells making up our skin are hard at work trying to repair all the damage that has been accumulated during the whole day overnight. This is the time to utilize nighttime skincare to help repair, nourish and regenerate.

Try Le Couvent des Minimes Loving Care Body Balm, $32

People sleep for approximately one third of their lives and studies have shown the benefits of sleep have long-lasting effects on your health and well-being. Look for a mattress that has natural fibers such as hypoallergenic horsehair that acts as a mini ventilation system eliminating moisture and allowing fresh air in for a comfortable night’s rest.

Try Hästens Beds,

If all else fails, try a glass of milk. There's a reason why your grandma always told you to drink warm milk— it contains tryptophan, an amino acid that helps induce sleep.

National Brow Day!

Did you know today is National Brow Day? From Wink BrowBar to Smashbox, today is a wonderful day to celebrate this wonderful feature with two of the most famous brows – Audrey and Elizabeth!

Their impeccable and lush brows further prove that this trend is here to stay, so lets look at the past to predict the future, as 2014 and now 2015 are definitely going to be the brow years to look forward to, from young ingenues like Lily Collins to Ashley Olsen.

What’s the modern way of shaping and filling in brows to create this lush effect? Look no further than threading, especially such as the West Village’s Wink Brow Bar, which specializes in organic threading. Anti-inflammatory and best for both shaping and growing a lusher set, read below for owner Umbreen Sheikh’s tips and tricks:

On promoting brow hair growth: “Everybody is different in how much their brow grows but you can try the following:
Brush them with an eyebrow brush, always remembering to go upwards and then outwards.
Then, moisturize your brows, making sure the hairs aren’t dry. Another thing you can do is to take vitamins, such as B-complex and C.”

On using tools to tame growing out brows: “You can use brow powders or pens to keep your brows filled in during the growing phase. You can also use a non-sticky brow wax. This keeps the hairs pressed back in the right direction on your face, making your brows appear fuller.”

Achieving lush brows can also be as quick as filling them in! Try Smashbox’s Brow Tech  or Wink Brows to Go quad for a lovely and easy look!

"Thanks to Lancôme and other supporters, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases," says Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Our founder Danny Thomas believed that no child should die in the dawn of life. To fulfill this promise, St. Jude depends on initiatives like national Genifique Day to support the life-saving research and treatment conducted at the hospital, and ensure that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food."

Each year, in honor of national Génifique Day, hundreds of thousands of dollars in vital donations are raised for St. Jude. Each Génifique bottle sold helps the hospital find cures. It costs, $2 million a day to operate the hospital, so 21 bottles can pay for one night of family housing. Nine bottles could cover one blood count test. Five bottles can buy a day of meals. And just three bottles could pay for one bone marrow needle. It's that easy to make a difference and your individual contribution can help in so many ways.

The Génifique collection serves as the epitome of Lancôme’s commitment to helping women look and feel their overall best. Inspired by cutting edge science, Génifique’s award-winning formula infuses skin with radiance while visibly reactivating the 10 key signs of youth.

Skyy Hadley's Hydrating Coconut Scrub - Make it yourself!

Summer may be just a hazy memory but our feet are always in need of some restoration and hydration. Whether you’ve had a long day at the office, you’re suffering from dry flip-flop feet, or you’re trying to break in a new pair of heels, there is nothing a DIY at-home foot scrub can’t fix. Try the below recipe for a luxurious, at-home foot treatment from celebrity manicurist and owner of As “U” Wish Nail Spa, Skyy Hadley and your feet will feel good as new in no time!

Skyy Hadley’s Recipe for the Ultimate Hydrating Coconut Scrub:
  •  Begin by muddling a few fresh mint leaves in an empty jar to release their natural essential oils. This will help you relax while providing hydration.
  •  Warm up some coconut oil and pour into the jar until it is halfway full.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of honey and mix in 1 tablespoon of sugar until the sugar is completely immersed in the oil mixture.
  • Take a couple spoonfuls of the scrub and work into your legs and feet to fully exfoliate, sloughing away dead skin and smoothing out calluses, cracked heels and rough spots.
  • The coconut oil will provide a great amount of moisture, leaving skin feeling smooth and supple.
  • Also, be sure to rub on toe nail beds and in between toes to prevent nail infections and fungus (as coconut oil contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties).
  • Repeat 1-2 times per week for a moisturizing and revitalizing at-home spa treatment.
