Hot Off the Fashion Week Runway! 3 Steps to Achieving a No Makeup Look

The hottest makeup trend stepping off the runways is natural minimalism. From Diane Von Furstenberg to Derek Lam, using makeup to get a no makeup look is all the rave. Makeup artists used toners, primers and highlighters to enhance the models’ natural features, all while making them appear as though they don’t have anything on at all!

Now, you can recreate the no makeup look in three simple steps…

o Apply Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 ($52, to entire face with a cotton pad. This liquid lotion, also known as the “facial in a bottle,” prepares skin by exfoliating and toning. The amazing vitamin-enriched exfoliating potion gently purifies, hydrates, tones, controls sebum and balances the skin, to achieve the perfect canvas.

o Once skin is prepped, apply Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Makeup Color Base in Pearl White ($50, to sculpture and highlight the face, which will make some features appear prominent and others recede. This base cream contains micronized pearl powders for an optical smoothing and brightening effect of the skin.

o For a sheer finish, Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Mineral Finishing Powder ($24, evens out skin tone and helps minimize skin redness. The powder can also be used for delicate highlighting on the high points of the face, such as the forehead and nose, as well as on the décolleté.

Get the Look: Nina Dobrev

There were so many great red carpet looks at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards held on Sunday, September 18th at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, but some made more of an impact than others. Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev appeared on the red carpet sporting a gorgeous red Donna Karen gown paired compliment by old Hollywood wavy hair, styled by Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One salon in Beverly Hills. “Nina's red Donna Karen dress basically chose this effortless look itself. The dress was so beautiful and powerful, we wanted something loose, soft and romantic”, said Riawna. Here are steps from Riawna on how to re-create this un-done look at home:

“Start by applying UNITE Blow and Set Lotion ($26.25: and blow dry hair straight, creating lots of body and lift. Once complete, set hair set hair with Velcro rollers and leave in for 10 minutes. Next, remove the rollers and using a 1 ¼ inch curling iron, curl and set hair
by pinning into horizontal sections. Once you’re dressed and makeup is applied, remove the pins and brush hair off to one side using a Mason Pearson brush. Lift the bang area and lightly tease with a rattail comb, spraying with a strong holding spray like UNITE Session Max ($29.95: Lastly, finish the look with a shine spray to give hair a radiant glow. Try UNITE Shina Mist Spray ($26.25:

NYFW: Ralph Lauren Roaring 20' Style

If I could revisit any time in fashion it would be the 1920's - I adore everything about the era! The exquisite drape of a woman's gown, the elegant simplicity of the designs, the sumptuous fabrics, the delicious embellishments - it was an era of unsurpassed progress in every aspect of life, but especially in fashion.

Ralph Lauren's Spring 2012 collection was like stepping into an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. I could picture Daisy Buchanan wearing any number of these divine creations! The color palette was delicate pastels, watercolor florals juxtaposed with glinting metallics. There was even a spectacular peach leather motorcycle jacket paired with cream palazzo pants.

The vibe was a mix of menswear inspired wide-leg trousers with ultra feminine ruffle front silk blouses and cashmere cardis, lovely silk chiffon dresses that swirled above raffia platform sandals, floral print skirts and slipdresses.

The show finished with an array of dazzling evening gowns in metallic fabrics that were absolutely stunning. My favorite collection of the entire week!

NYFW: Nanette Lepore's Flirty Spring Style

Nanette Lepore's Spring 2012 collection began with a splash of color - neon hues and sporty styles with cropped midriff-baring tops paired with full skirts, the entire line showing a definite sense of athletic style.

As the show progressed the color palette toned down and became more subdued, elegant and graceful. The entire collection was very feminine with flowy dresses and skirts, blouses with lace cutouts and dresses with exquisite lace overlay.

One of my favorite looks of the show was this figure-flattering tangerine top paired with loose flowing cropped trousers in an icy blue.

And my show fave: this gorgeous lace overlay dress. Who would have guessed that lilac and tangerine would complement eachother so well?

NYFW: J Crew - Who Knew?

There was a time when the thought of a catalog company showing in a featured slot at New York Fashion Week would have given a fashionista pause. Not so with J Crew. Their style formula definitely works. Marissa Webb, head of women's design shares her standard: Color and classic tailoring are the prime blueprint; "it's the proportions that make them new," said Webb. Loose, slouchy cashmere sweaters, narrow pencil skirts that graze the shins.

Another skirt in multicolored sequin stripes was even longer - "it's almost a dorky, nerdy length," Webb said, "but it feels sexier than a mini now."

Guests were treated to a mashup of color, prints and patterns in a brazen combinations, which is signature J Crew and many of which I can see joining my wardrobe this spring!

NYFW: Tory Burch - Behind the Scenes

Today, Tory Burch has her first New York Fashion Week runway show, and just last week she opened a flagship boutique on Madison Avenue.

"It's been a great year. Work is taking on a new level," she says. "I feel like opening our new store has made (my business) feel like a different place. just seems like a lot of firsts."

Tory Burch has a chain of boutiques stretching from Hawaii to Connecticut, but says her Manhattan outpost holds special meaning. "Looking at our footprint in New York, we knew uptown would be someplace we wanted to go, and Madison is such an iconic place," she says. "For a long time, it was not possible. We're very lucky to be there. It's nice to be included with such incredible designers."

The collection she''ll show at Lincoln Center today is inspired by the French seaside resort of Deauville in the 1920's and the Pablo Picasso painting, The Bathers. Her Spring 2012 line is "sporty and glamorous at the same time" with colors like coral, sunflower, seafoam and navy which "evoke the seaside."
